Robert MacDonald is a native of Massachusetts. He earned the Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance from Boston University and the Master of Music degree in Organ Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. A lifelong member of the American Guild of Organists, he holds the Associate degree of that organization and is a former Dean of their New York City Chapter. Bob's career as a church organist began at the age of ten. While earning his college degrees he played in churches in the Boston area, and beginning in 1969 he worked with Frederick Swann as Associate Organist - Choir Director of the Riverside Church in New York City. In 1977 he was offered the position of Director of Music and Organist at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newark, New Jersey, a position he held for twelve years. During those years he was also the staff organist at the Radio City Music Hall. In 1989 Bob was appointed Director of Music and Organist at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, a position he held until his retirement in 2007. He now freelances as a church organist in the Dallas - Fort Worth area and is available to play recitals and silent movie programs. His career also has included teacher of piano and organ, public school vocal music teacher, director of music for little theater productions, supper club entertainer, director of community choruses, clinician for handbell workshops and master classes for organists
